WP Engine pricing explained
Updated October 2026
WP Engine is one of the best-known managed WordPress hosts, but its pricing has changed several times, and the price on the page isn't always what you'll pay.
The plans
WP Engine now sells three main tiers: Essential, Business and Enterprise, with capacity levels inside each. Older plan names like Startup, Professional, Growth and Scale still appear on some of its pages.
The entry Essential plan starts from about $26.25/mo billed annually for new customers in the first year, and covers one site, 25,000 visits a month and 10 GB of storage. WP Engine says renewal pricing can change.
Costs to watch
- Visit overages. Go over your monthly visits and you pay extra. Since September 2025, WP Engine excludes suspected bots from billable visits.
- Add-ons. The managed firewall and advanced DDoS protection are paid add-ons below Enterprise.
- Support and uptime guarantees by tier. Phone support and the 99.99% uptime guarantee start on Business, not Essential.
Is it worth it?
For agencies and developers who use its staging, Git and CI/CD workflow every day, often yes. For a single business site, Kinsta, Rocket.net and Pressable offer similar or better speed for similar or less money, and Liquid Web offers managed WordPress for a fraction of the price.
