What's usually excluded
- Domain registration, or a fee for a "free" domain.
- Add-ons and third-party licences, such as premium SSL certificates.
- Renewals. Guarantees cover your first purchase, not later renewals.
- Some payment methods, where a host only refunds as account credit.
How to test a host risk-free
- Note your refund deadline in your calendar on the day you sign up.
- Move a copy of your site during the first week; many hosts migrate it free.
- Test speed from a few locations, and contact support once with a real question to see how fast and useful the answer is.
- Decide by day 21, leaving time to move back and request the refund.
